Belleville School’s Drive Away Hunger

A Letter from Belleville Dist. #118 Superintendent, Ryan Boike: Hello to everyone. In the past we, as a District, have come together in a service project called “Drive Away Hunger”. This project was created by our District Character Education Committee. The response to our efforts to “drive away hunger” in our community has been overwhelming and as a result, we have delivered over 165,000 items on school buses to our Belleville food pantries. We will hold the 13th annual Drive Away Hunger service project this year. This year to make the donation bigger and better, we will continue to partner with other schools in the Belleville community. Thank You to our Winter Accessory Drive Donors

The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce and the Healthcare & Community Service Agency Committee has another successful drive this year during our Winter Accessory Drive. Hundreds of items including coats, gloves, scarves, and more were collected and will be distributed around the community to organizations including Catholic Urban Programs, City of Belleville General Assistance, and Violence Prevention Center. We want to thank all of our donors that helped us have another successful drive this season. Thank you to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Illinois American Water, Jack Schmitt, Kathy Frederico, McCullough’s Flooring Enterprise, Inc., PSOP,, Turkey Hill Grange, and Community Members Joan Braswell and Linda Weisenstein.

Chamber Committee Hosts Winter Accessory Drive

Thank You to All for a Successful Hygiene Kit Drive

Each year the Healthcare & Community Service Committee collects hygiene items for those less fortunate in our community. This year the response was overwhelming, collecting over 3,000 items including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, snacks, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and more. The committee would like to thank the organizations that served as collection sites for the “Emergency Hygiene Kit” drive: AgeSmart Community Services, Belleville Chamber Office, and Programs & Services for Older Persons (PSOP). We would like to also thank our Chamber members that donated: AgeSmart Community Services, Ambassador Travel, Arsenal Credit Union, Circa, CompuType IT Solutions, Home Instead Senior Care, Programs & Services for Older Persons, Raymond James, Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, Super 8 Motel, as well as many individuals. Healthcare & CSA Committee Collecting Items for Hygiene Kits

The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce’s Healthcare & Community Service Agency (CSA) Committee is once again collecting items for their annual Emergency Hygiene Kit drive now through July 31.  Members are invited to help collect items in their office to donate to the cause. Items being collected include but are not limited to toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, bar soap, kleenex, deodorant, lotion, wipes, lip balm, razors, women’s hygiene products, etc. Items must be able to fit in a quart-sized plastic bag. Items in the past have been distributed to local agencies including Call for Help, Project Compassion, Union United Methodist Church, and the Violence Prevention Center. Items can be delivered to the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce office Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm or you can call ahead to check…
