As one of three cities in the St. Clair County to be called a Get up & Go! community, Belleville has made a longterm commitment to work on creating complete streets, coordinating school health and make efforts towards smoke-free housing.

Other emphasis on fitness comes with more than 32 organized events consisting of runs, walks and bicycle events including the annual Tour de Belleville; Belleville was also named a 2014-2015 Runner Friendly Community.

With a contagious sense of togetherness, community members come together to encourage active lifestyles at fitness clubs, community gardens in various neighborhoods and volunteering at organizations and community events.

Getting Around

With close proximity to highways and access to the MetroLink, it is easy to travel to nearby towns and cities, including St. Louis. For those who choose to work in St. Louis, you can travel to and from work with the sun at your back. The MetroLink, with two stations in Belleville, also provides great access around the St. Louis Region extending from Lambert Airport to Scott Air Force Base.
