Held annually the 3rd weekend in May, Art on the Square is a nationally recognized juried art show intended to foster the appreciation of the visual and performing arts to a diverse public by presenting an exhibit and sale of fine art, providing educational and enjoyable workshops for children and promoting the importance of the creative process.
This commitment includes providing these goals free of charge, not only for entertainment, but also to educate the residents of Southwestern Illinois and the surrounding community.

Gingerbread Walk, www.bellevillemainstreet.netAnnual Gingerbread Walk

The recipe for holiday fun in Belleville includes gingerbread, icing, crisp winter weather and warm spirits as the city celebrates its annual Gingerbread Walk. The city heralds the holidays in its historic downtown with music, shopping and festivities, highlighted by the dozens of gingerbread creations on display. The festival begins with a contest for the most creative use of gingerbread in mid-November. After the contest is over, all of the ornate gingerbread creations will be placed in the decorated storefronts downtown as part of the Gingerbread Walk festivities, which begins the first week of December. Shoppers can enjoy the fascinating gingerbread houses and other creative items as they stroll the historic downtown.  For more information, call Belleville Main Street at (618) 239-9428.
