ne of the many services offered by the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce is professional counseling in starting a small business. Statistics have historically shown that nine out of 10 small businesses fail in their first year. With this in mind, it’s wise to do you research before starting a business. The Chamber’s SCORE counselors are available to help potential businesses start off with a solid foundation for success.

The first step is to download the request for counseling form, fill it out, and return mail to:

Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce
Attn: SCORE Counselors
216 East A Street
Belleville, IL 62220

A SCORE counselor will contact you to schedule your first counseling session. For more information about SCORE, visit their website at www.score.org. Another small business resource is the U.S. Small Business Administration, which has state offices in Springfield and Chicago.

U.S. Small Busines Administration, www.sba.gov

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation. We recognize that small business is critical to our economic recovery and strength, to building America's future, and to helping the United States compete in today's global marketplace. Although SBA has grown and evolved in the years since it was established in 1953, the bottom line mission remains the same. We help Americans start, build and grow businesses. Through an extensive network of field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations, SBA delivers its services to people throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U. S. Virgin Islands and Guam.

Illinois District of the Small Business Administration, www.sba.gov/il

The Illinois Offices are responsible for the delivery of SBA's many programs and services to 102 counties in Illinois. Our offices are located in Chicago and Springfield.

Belleville has it all.
