B

efore moving into a house or an apartment in Belleville you must obtain an occupancy permit from the Belleville Health and Housing Department. Utilities will not accept application for service without a valid occupancy permit number issued by the city after successful completion of inspection of the residence. Apply in person at the Public Service Bldg., 213 South Illinois Street (Map by MapQuest.com). The occupancy permit program enforces the provisions of the Property Maintenance Code and assists in maintaining housing quality. The application fee is $40. For information, call 233-6817.
