Cards
Library fees are collected through city
taxes so there is
no additional charge for Belleville City Residents
when applying for a library card. The
Non-Resident fee is $60.00 for those living
outside of the city limits of Belleville.
To obtain a library card we
require a photo ID and formal proof of your current
address dated within the past 30 days. Business
mail such as water, electricity or credit card
bills, bank statements or residency permits are
acceptable forms of proof of address. Please
contact the library if you have any questions about
applying for a library card.
Patrons are responsible for all
materials checked out on their library card.
Borrowing
Policy
Multimedia materials are limited to 5 per
check out.
Reference materials may not be checked out.
The library reserves the right to limit seasonal and
special interest items.
Loan Periods
Books, audiobooks, music CDs, puppets,
discovery packs, and art access kits may be checked
out for 3 weeks.
Bestsellers may be limited to 2 weeks.
Seasonal items may be limited to 1 week.
Videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs and magazines may be checked
out for 1 week.
Fines
Books, CDs, CD-ROMs, magazines, audiobooks:
$0.10 per item per day
Videos, DVDs: $1.00 per item per day
Art Access Kits: $5.00 per kit per day
Fines are charged for each day an
item is overdue.
Fines are not charged for days the library is
closed.
Renewals
Most items are renewable twice if there are
no outstanding requests for the item. You may renew
items in person, by phone, or over the internet.

the Library Catalog via the Internet

To request or renew materials via
the online catalog, you will need your borrower ID
and PIN. The borrower ID is the barcode number on
your library card. Your PIN is the year of your
birth (e.g. 1972) or the last four digits of your
home phone number. Your account must be in good
standing to process requests and renewals online.
